140 passive industrialised homes, Bayonne, Séqué ZAC (Zone d’Aménagement Concerté – Concerted Development Zone)

The town of Bayonne, in order to develop the Séqué ZAC (Zone d’Aménagement Concerté – Concerted Development Zone), launched a call for proposals that offered an alternative to individual homes, with more diverse types of housing, to respond to demand, and with a sustainable development approach.
Four proposals were retained: the Buhler agency (Bordeaux) proposed building upwards; Samazuzu Arquitectos (San-Sebastien) prioritised intimacy; Dunca Lewis (Bordeaux) suggested a green integration; and atelierphilippemadec chose to optimise.
With our industrial partner, Immodulair, we committed to inventing an economical and spacious architecture to answer social demand for comfortable, practical and affordable housing. With a 3D steel module measuring 3/3/6 m, we organised an oriented ground-plan, creating a rural urban development, mixing collective, intermediate and high-density individual spaces.
A general ground plan is in the process of being drawn up to include the four projects of the four selected architects.
