City of Rennes
Three concrete Art Deco buildings – production building, malt silo and bottling hall – have been preserved because of their value as national heritage. The last of these buildings is to be converted into a 700 m2 exhibition hall. The outline of these industrial buildings sets the tone inspires the rhythm of the new constructions. To the south will be buildings four storeys high with double attics; to the north, residential building will be accompanied by a future public amenity. The rue Saint-Hélier will be restructured.
The 250 homes will conform to the parameters set by the Programme Local de l’Habitat (Local Housing Programme): 25% social rentals, 25% intermediate housing, and 50% private ownership. Local food and service shops are situated on the ground floor of the buildings in the eastern part of the development. A small square will be provided in front of the church; the Saint-Hélier/Pierre-Martin crossroads will be enlarged.
